Basic Design with Constraints

FARE MADE offers this 4-hour course which covers a one-on-one introduction to digital fabrication technology.  We can teach you:

  • The physics and fundamentals of a high-precision laser cutting machine (Trotec Speedy 300 – CO2 Laser)
  • Best practices for calibrating a laser cutting machine for cutting, engraving and marking
  • Material alignment, processing, removal
  • Material finishing / post-process construction
  • Efficient production techniques
  • Digital Fabrication software, from digital input and manipulation of 3d data to output for CO2 Laser Cutting, Metal Laser Cutting and 3D Printing
  • Best practices for Project Setup on Laser Cutter Machine Software

Intermediate Digital Fabrication Design with Rhino / Grasshopper / AutoCAD

FARE MADE offers this 4-hour course in Basic and Intermediate Rhino design and development of complex multi-component models for Laser Cutting and 3D Printing.  We cover manipulation of solids and integration of vector data.  We also cover the basics of Grasshopper with regards to generating parametric solutions in joints, numbering, paneling and nesting.  Our AutoCAD instruction focuses on manipulating data for laser cutting output.  We will also explore the process of designing watertight stereolithography (STL) files for 3D Printing.  Included in these exercises is instruction on material engineering for durability, appearance and economy.

You can choose your application of these design concepts with us, to create such items as:

  • Laser cut maps
  • Signage
  • Lighting and Industrial Design
  • Scale Architectural Modeling
  • Accessory and Fashion Design
